Allied Gardens Spring Fest Parade
Saturday, May 3rd  2008

WHERE:  Meet at our display booth at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center (Next to Lewis Middle School) grass area at 10:15!  Our booth has “Martial Arts” written on it.  We will line up, then, walk over to the parade staging area at 51st street & Greenbrier (on the soccer field at the recreation center) at 10:30.  Directions to park are below.

WHEN:    MEET AT 10:15  See ABOVE!!  The parade starts at 10:30, arrive early, as the streets will get blocked off.

DRESS:  Martial Arts Uniform AND Belt. 

WHAT TO BRING: Last year it was hot, so bring a water bottle for your child if you want, but they cannot carry it in the parade. Additionally sunscreen & a spray bottle might be a good idea… AND Lots of energy with a loud KEY-OP! 

WHAT NEXT:  Return the bottom half of this form to Instructors if you want to participate!

Directions to Parade:  Highway 8 to Waring Rd. Exit (near SDSU), go north to 4th stop light, make left on Greenbrier Ave., go straight into the recreation center parking lot or find parking on the street.

 

To help us plan, please turn in your permission slips  NO LATER THAN April 14th!!!

We are going to have practice classes for marching in the parade.

DURING THE PARADE:

We will be marching in the parade doing selected Martial Arts movements.  As we walk, your child will demonstrate the different forms and movements they have learned.  Head Instructor Eric, and AI Ben will lead the movements.  Parents may not march in the parade with their children unless they are “official” volunteers (WE NEED LOTS OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS!). Movements Demonstrated during parade will be covered during class AND at our two parade preparation lessons held on the two Saturdays BEFORE the Parade Day!  Once we start marching, the entire parade route takes only a few minutes, however it might take some time before our turn to march.

 

AFTER THE PARADE:

Pick up your child right after the parade at our display booth at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center field. (Next to Lewis Middle School) We will wait with the children at our display booth, so please be prompt in picking them up.  Then stay and enjoy the day at the Festival!!!!

 

A SPRING FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD AFTER THE PARADE

 

  The event will include:

A Variety of Booths from the community (Come and visit our school booth!!) Food (Hotdogs, Hamburgers, and Sodas) Games/ Carnival! (INSTRUCTORS in a Dunk Tank!  Obstacle Course, Slide, and others) Entertainment (Live Band, DJ’ed music, dancing, demonstrations, etc…)

WE NEED VOUNTEERS!!!!!!

 

We need some Parent AND Children volunteers!   Some to walk along the edge of the parade route to keep an eye on the kids, help with any stragglers, & help round up the kids at the end of the route and dismiss them to their parent, 2 parents to use our digital camera and camcorder to take pictures of the event. We also need parents and kids to help run our booth and GAME BOOTH!
