My name is Javier Aguirre. I am 30
years old. I have been practicing martial arts at the Allied Gardens School of
Martial Arts for approximately two years, along with my son Javier age 7. Initially
my intentions were to attend the school, learn something new, and share this experience
with my son; at first the lessons were very challenging both physically and mentally,
but this motivated me to practice harder and with more intensity, after a few
lessons I began to notice positive changes in both me and my son, soon after my
intentions shifted form just learning something new, to practicing martial arts
to the best of my ability, and exploring its full potential along wit h its benefits.
My son Javier used to be a real quiet and shy kid; in fact his teacher had told
us that he never participated in class although when he was called upon he always
knew the right answers. My wife and I wondered how we could help him but we did
not know how, in fact we commented on how we used to be quiet kids ourselves and
how we both feared participating in front of class. Not too long after attending
the martial arts school Javier's teacher told us how amazed she was with Javier
and how he transformed into a new kid, full of confidence, participating in class
and constantly volunteering information, this was great news for us because we
knew he was a smart kid but we had no idea of how to make him more outgoing, unknowingly
by enrolling him in martial arts we helped Javier develop self-confidence, it
is very rewarding to know that the skills and talent learned through practicing
martial arts can be used not only in the classroom but also in daily life. One
of the things we like about the school is the fact that through their schedule
and curriculum they allow us the flexibility for individuality; Javier's favorite
lessons include playing family games and competing against adults; my favorite
lessons include practicing kung-fu forms and weapons training. I can attend lessons
and focus on my individual goals by attending adult classes, while still enjoying
this activity with my son, by attending the family lessons. Through
the practice of Martial Arts we have both gained many benefits; we are mentally
and physically stronger and Javier has gained self-confidence and discipline.
Thanks to the instructors we continue to keep motivated while still having fun
and enjoyment, in fact we are still competing to see who earns their black belt
first. Sincerely,
Javier Aguirre |
