Fast,
powerful, and relaxed, the Northern Shaolin “Ma Family” Numbered Fighting System
of Kung Fu uses entire body strength behind every technique. Hidden within its
Ten Fighting Methods lie hundreds of self defense techniques and body development
movements. Only the practiced martial Artist can see the long form of the system
for the treasures it holds. In addition, within it lies the foundation movements
for all Northern Martial Art Styles including Tai Chi Chuan, Hsing-I, and Bagua
Zhang. History
Originally
from Taoist/Buddhist “Wu” Temple the “Ma” family version, or style, of Northern
Shaolin Kung Fu combined many of the Northern Shaolin Styles to form one comprehensive
grouping of their essence. Its foundation lies in movements from the original
Shaolin Temple forms as passed from Damo, the founder of Shaolin Martial Arts.
In addition, it utilizes the Chin Na, locking and seizing, techniques of General
Yue Fei’s Eagle Claw; as well as, the Tam Tue, spring leg, and Cannon Boxing techniques
of Cha Chuan and the famous Ching Woo School. The “Ma” family were well off and
known for their generosity and kindness, as well as martial art skills, having
been undefeatable for generations. The
Ten Fighting Methods -
Cannon Fist: To fire a punch straight both vertically and horizontally.
- Meteor
Fist: Circular hammer motions like a whip from high and low.
- Grabbing
Fist: Trapping the hand or limb to make an opening to attack.
- Sweeping/Tripping
Fist: Trips, sweeps, throws, and pushes.
- Locking
Fist: Lock, capture, seize, and break an opponents limbs.
- Ground
Work: Rolls, falls, kicking from ground, and evading.
- Crossing
Fist: Crossing, twisting, springing power from one side to other.
- Attack
and Evade: Covers distances quickly, to attack or avoid an opponent.
- Splitting
Hands: Chops and blocks in a circular spinning motion.
- Flying
Kicks: Jump, hop, kick, using body momentum and multiple leg attacks.
